WHEEL REFURBISHMENT
OVERVIEW

There are several reasons why you may need an Alloy Wheel Refurbishment specialist. Scraping your rims on the kerb is frustrating and can make your car look unsightly; corrosion can be another reason your Alloy Wheels are in need of a revamp as it builds up under the lacquer, it causes your wheels to have a cloudy white look to polished wheels and cause's the lacquer to peel/flake.
Midland Alloy Wheel Refurbishment & Tyre Specialists are experts in the field of Alloy Wheel Refurbishment. All wheel refurbishments are done in-house by our wheel specialists. The process usually takes a couple of days as everything gets stripped, thoroughly cleaned and primed before the refurbishment takes place this also means that wheels may need repairing from being curbed or damaged.

STAGE 1 - TYRES & ALLOYS REMOVED
-
Wheels are removed from the customers car, tyres are then stripped off alloys in-house using our highly sophisticated tyre equipment (price reduced if wheels are brought in already off tyres).
STAGE 2 - STRIPPING THE WHEEL BACK TO BARE METAL
-
The wheel is replaced in a chemical solution for several hours in order to remove any old paint, lacquer and any accumulated deposits. We do this for every wheel to provide a perfect key for the subsequent paint and lacquer processes it is then thoroughly washed to remove all chemical deposits and dirt before being low pressure blasted to create the best possible surface condition. Any repairs requiring welding to restore the surface of the rim or straightening of buckled wheel is undertaken at this stage having received customer authorisation.
STAGE 3 - PRIMING THE WHEEL
-
The wheel is placed on a conveyor system that passes through an oven to remove any trapped air before moving into a spray booth for a coating of powder coating primer. It then passes back into the oven to be baked to ensure curing process has been completed. The wheel is then left to cool to a temperature suitable for painting.
STAGE 4 - APPLYING THE PAINT & LACQUER
-
The wheel is professionally spray painted both inside and outside before being flashed off in oven, then inspected for further coats if necessary. Finally a powder lacquer is applied to the face and inside (powder lacquers are highly durable) to protect the wheel from salt, brake dust and other elements the wheel then returns to the oven prior to final inspection when cool.
STAGE 5 - QUALITY CONTROL
-
Each wheel is carefully inspected to ensure that the finish is near enough if not the same to the original factory finish. We do not allow any wheels to leave our unit until we feel that it is 100 percent upto our standards and ready to be returned to the customer. Tyres are then re fitted to alloy wheels with new valves before being safely fitted to the customer vehicle. We have various different colour finishes available.
